White Christmas

tiny Christmas lights at night

and snowflakes twinkle –

happy children with presents

White COVID winter…

Joyful children

on their favourite sledges

Snowy COVID winter

and Father Christmas got tonsillitis -

no gifts for children

Winter. So white and clean.

It covers everything with a white cloak,

It hugs everyone under a blanket of snow and

wraps them in a gentle embrace.

Kids have fun playing in the snow

Snowmen appear everywhere

Nevena St., 8th grade

All cultures using an annual calendar celebrate the New Year. Every nation for centuries has created and passed down from generation to generation its New Year's traditions and beliefs. Scots visit even people they don't know them. Spaniards take to the streets and exchange gifts when the clock strikes 12. Slovaks must have carp on the table. Hungarians must have garlic and honey on the table. The Chinese put a daffodil on the New Year's table.

snow falling -

snowflakes glimmering

in hair

snowy winter –

my cheeks flush with warmth

at home

winter morning –

it’s frosty everywhere

animals are hidden in their burrow

frosty evening –

children keep on making

snowmen

a single star

twinkles at night…

a guiding light

Fatme, 7th A grade

I’m a little snowman, plump and fat

I live in the yard, near your doormat.

When the sun smiles as a marigold

I just melt away, buttonholed.

Nedzhibe, 8th grade

December –

the Christmas spirit makes

our souls bright and light
